Philippians 4:12 " I can do everything through Him who gives me strength." This verse was on my journal page this morning. In the past, it has come to mind when I've faced a frightening or difficult task. It's true that we need to rely on God's strength in everything, but Paul used it in a slightly different way. Paul first thanked the Philippian church for the aid they'd sent him. He was grateful for the help, but also wanted them to know he'd had the experience of plenty and of having nothing, but had learned to be content in every situation. He worked through every instance with Christ's strength--not trying to get out of it--but knowing it was God's plan. In another letter, Paul wrote to the church at Corinth that God told him "My grace is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9) God gives the strength needed to accomplish what he asks of us-his tasks, planned in advance for us to do.
