"Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word!" Psalm 148:7-8 ESV Strong wind gusts and heavy rain hit this morning and went on for several hours.

Are there members of the church who spread false doctrine and thereby confuse new believers? What should we do to keep the teaching pure? How do we know if a teaching is truth?
Psalm 23:6 reads: "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." How is David able to make this bold claim. Was he out of touch with reality. He lived through turmoil and trials, but he trusted God and knew from experience that God is faithful.
In studying this verse, I discovered how easy it is to be conformed to the pattern of this world. I live in this world and bombarded with worldly attitudes and standards everyday. To be transformed by the word of God, I must intentionally immerse myself in it. That's when my mind is renewed and I begin to agree with God.
"God writes the Gospel, not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars." Martin Luther
Romans 8:28 reads, "And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good for those called according to His purpose." (English Standard Version)
I cheated a little when I chose this verse. I'd already memorized most of it, although I memorized the New International Version. It's a bit different. But, to get this verse from my mind to my heart, I studied it to find its full meaning. An article describing my journey is on the Christian Living Site. It is here: Do you memorize Scripture. What method do you use? |
