I like to think my life is on track. I hope anyone watching me see's that I'm in control. The problem is; I'm in control for about fifteen minutes before I drift off course. I get distracted by pretty things. Stress and daily problem cause me to forget my desired destination. I'm left floundering to stay afloat. Without constant course corrections I'd be lost at sea.
This is where God's word saves me. Wisdom from the Bible directs my course.

When the angels went back to their Heavenly abode, the shepherds had seen the new born Messiah and returned to their sheep herding.... Did those simple men hold tightly to the wonder of their encounter? Did the glory fade? How long did it take before some of them doubted the memory? Hard times were sure to occur. Did they encourage one another?

Loneliness and depression in this season of togetherness can only be relieved by the One who knows and understands everything about me. He is the only one who will never leave me, even when he knows the worst.

The Christmas season - full of joy, happy children, snowflakes, love, peace on earth.
Nice to think about, but we know this isn't they way life is unfolding for all people around the world. For many, this year's Christmas season is also full of uncertainty and fear.
Terror attacks, war, natural calamities. Governments are ineffective. Everything seems out of control. When we focus on the tragedies, there is no joy.
We may be ineffective and out of control, but there is One who is in full control. There is One who holds the future. The secret of joy is to focus on Him.
I needed to remind myself of the only One offering peace and security-- Omnipotent God.

Are you in need of comfort? It's in the Bible.
Need wisdom? It's in God's word.
Do you wonder why the world is so crazy? Read the Bible.
While thinking about being thankful this week, I remembered the blessing God gave us. In the Bible, He tells us everything we need to know to draw near to the Creator. It is His plan. It tells us how to be a part of that plan.
Best of all, the Bible gives us a picture of eternity and our place in it.
Glory to God.

We hear a lot of stories of Heaven. Many varied accounts and ideas of what it may be like. I'm not one to say what is true and what is imagination. God's Kingdom isn't limited on space so who am I to say someone's vision is true or false.
I have confidence of some descriptions. I have faith in what I read in the Bible. God's word is true.
The apostle John wrote of his vision of Heaven in the book of Revelation. Chapter four gave me food for thought and contemplation. Beautiful colors, thunder, lightning, and Worship.

Broken pieces of glass were thrown into the ocean, tossed and turned for years until the edges were smoothed and their finish perfected. Then they wash up on the beach as sea glass - collector's item, perfect gems for jewelry.
God never threw us away, but He sometimes lets us be buffetted by waves of life, turning us into a treasure He can use.

The Bible tells us to be intentional about where we spend time and who we hang out with. God blesses those who meditate on His word.. Delight in God's word.
This is the verse in the New Living Translation:
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.

This is October 31 - Halloween. Funny costumes make Satan obvious today, but he's prowling around all year. He's is apt to whisper lies - not only today - everyday. I find myself listening to him sometimes.
So, I'm moping around the house, feeling guilty for something I did once. Do I think Jesus was surprised at the terrible things I asked Him to forgive? He forgave me and took the guilt. I don't need to go back there. I'll repent of any new offense and He's promised to fogive that too.
Jesus isn't surprised at how needy and weak I am. Read more here: Jesus Knows You
