So you want to color your hair. You may want to brighten your natural hair color or you may want a totally new look. You may want to cover that irritating gray hair that is showing up. Hair color is one of the easiest and most exciting ways of expressing your individuality. But with the all of the hair color shades to choose from picking the best color can be confusing.

It may surprise you to know that there are almost always a number of hair color shades that can be effective and attractive. To decide on the #1 most flattering hair color take a look at your underlying skin tones and the color of your eyes. Your own God given natural beauty can be intensified by a beautiful hair color when it blends with and enhances your skin tones.

Before finalizing this very important decision, look at the skin of your face and neck trying to discern the underlying tones. Ask your hairdresser or a close friend to help. Below are some tips to help with your choice.

The undertones of your skin seem to be Light and warm. You may have been described as having a peaches and cream complexion. Your skin is creamy or pale golden tan. You have green, hazel, or warm brown eyes.
Hair color that is warm toned and not too dark is most flattering for you.
This includes light golden blonde, strawberry blonde, beige blonde, apricot, light brown with golden or reddish highlights or golden blonde with red highlights.

The undertones of your skin seem to be medium and warm
, almost yellow red. You may have beautiful deep golden brown or copper skin. Your eyes are green, amber, red-brown, or coffee bean in color.
When choosing hair color look for a deep, rich shade. I good choice will be medium to dark golden brown, honey brown, chestnut or mahogany. Add red highlights for an even more glamorous effect.

The undertones of your skin seem to be cool or even blue-red
. You may have alabaster skin or it may be rosy pink, rose beige or light pearl. You have cool toned eyes. They are light blue, gray blue, gray green or sometimes blue green.
When looking for hair color, look for color that is ‘ash’ in tone, such as taupe or light brown with wheat tones, white blonde, platinum or silvery blonde. Highlight the deeper shades with silvery blonde or wheat blonde..

The undertones of your medium to deep toned skin seem to be cool. People say that you have olive skin. It may be dark olive, grayish brown, dark brown or black. Your eyes may be blue-green, dark blue, dark green, cool brown or they may seem to be black.
Beautiful hair color shades for you are plum toned, burgundy brown, dark brown, black, slate. Highlight any of these shades with plum or eggplant highlights.
