Change your straight - possibly boring? - hairstyle
into this loose natural looking wavy style in about 20 to 30 minutes
depending on whether your hair is fine and thin or very thick. This is an
easy update to do update on those days when you want a change of style.
You can do this on your own by using bobby pins and a flat iron.
Dry your hair using a vent brush or a round brush. Try
not to use a straightening iron unless your hair is very frizzy. Using the
straightening iron sometimes results in hair that refuses to be re-curled
until it is washed again.
Start with a two-inch square area of hair. For more
curls or for very thick hair, start with a one inch area. Spray that
section of hair with a very light mist of spray setting lotion or spray
gel. Dampen the hair – don’t saturate it. Twist the section into a pin
curl.
Making a pin curl is as easy as wrapping the piece of
hair around your finger, using the other hand to slide the curl off your
finger and sliding a bobby pin over it to keep it in place. Don’t pin the
curl flat to your head – let it stand away and hang loosely.
-
If you want lots of curl or your hair does not curl
easily, create small pin curls.
-
If you want a loose wave or your hair is easy to
curl, create large pin curls.
-
Sometimes you will have a lot of curl at first but
it will loosen throughout the day.
Now to actually put the curl
into your hair:
Heat each pin curl by enclosing it in your flat iron.
Leave the iron on the curl just long enough so that the hair is hot all
the way through the curl – no longer.
After heating all of your pin curls, wait a few
minutes. Each curl should be thoroughly dry and cool before they are
disturbed.
Gently remove the bobby pins and let the curls dangle.
After removing all of the bobby pins, you may loosen the curls by running
your fingers through your hair.

The Finish
For a smoothed, separated appearance, use light wax
for hair or finishing cream.
Place a small amount of your choice of product in the palms of your hands
and rub your palms together to emulsify it. Run your fingers through your
hair to separate the pieces.
Note:
Creating a few of these waves just over the top of your
straight style is pretty too.
